There are three different pirate factions in the Pirate Isles. If one player controls all three then they count as four for capturing gold from trade fleets passing through the area. The first fleet put in play was Wu controlled by Ron. The second fleet to be put in play was controlled by a Ray. The third fleet would be put in play later in the game
The different caravans and fleets were worth varying amounts of gold talents. Each player with a pirate fleet, pirate/trade fee country (Monokeros, Kaelum, Perseus, Syrma, and Saiph), and/or a card with a trade income symbol would receive an equal amount of gold talents based on the value of the caravan/fleet for each of the items listed. Thus if a person controlled a pirate fleet, one of the countries on the trade route and a card with a trade income symbol, they would receive three times the amount the trade mission was worth. For a mission worth two talents they would receive a total of six talents. As the campaign progressed Mike would be the biggest beneficiary of this due to the countries he controlled and the number of cards he had melded with a trade symbol.
THE AKAMAR HERALD
SILIDON’S BODY DISAPPEARS.
FOLLOWING HIS DEFEAT BY THE WIZARD, SILIDON’S BODY WAS
DISCARDED OUTSIDE THE WALLS OF WEZEN.
SHORTLY AFTER THIS IT WAS GONE.
THE NOTED, HUMANITARIAN C. (CALLIOPE) LARA BARTON, WHO WAS SEEN IN THE
AREA, WAS QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS. HER
REPLY WAS THAT SHE HAD ONLY SOUGHT TO GIVE THE BODY A PROPER BURIAL. HOWEVER, FURTHER QUESTIONING ABOUT WHERE THE
REMAINS HAD BEEN BURIED YIELDED NO RESULTS, NOR COULD HIS GRAVE BE LOCATED.
CARAVAN FROM NESDE ARRIVES IN KAELUM
A CARAVAN BEARING VALUABLE GOODS PASSED THROUGH MONOKEROS
ON ITS WAY TO THE GREAT CITY OF AKAMAR.
THE INFLUX OF TRADE GOODS HAS BROUGHT GREAT WEALTH TO MONOKEROS, KAELUM,
AND PISCIS.
PIRATE ACTIVITY IN THE GULF OF MIRFAK INCREASES
IN ADDITION TO THE FLEET OF WU,
ANOTHER FLEET SAILING UNDER THE BANNER OF CHI HAS BEEN SPOTTED IN THE GULF OF
MIRFAK. MERCHANTS IN THE AREA HAVE
EXPRESSED ALARM AT THE INCREASE IN PIRATE ACTIVITY AND ARE DEMANDING THAT
ACTION BE TAKEN TO SECURE THE SAFETY OF COMMERCIAL SHIPS IN THE AREA. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT SAIPH AND SYRMA
HAVE BEEN PROVIDING SAFE HARBORS FOR THE PIRATES. HOWEVER, THE DELPHINIAN LEAGUE DENIES THAT IT
IS PROVIDING ANY SUPPORT FOR ILLEGAL PRIVATEERS.
