The Akamar Herald Year Five The Aftermath of the Rebellion Against The Alliance

After resolving the effects of the Rebellion card Ray took over several countries that Mike had lost.  Though he had lost almost half the countries he controlled, Mike still retained the lead in the campaign with Ron in second, Gary in third, and Ray in fourth place.   Ken had dropped to the bottom of the standings as he only controlled the fortress of Sad Al Bari and had no countries under his control.

REBELLION SOUNDLY CRUSHED IN MUSCA

THE ARMED FORCES OF MUSCA SHATTERED THE REBEL ARMY NEAR THE CITY OF RASTABAN.    THE MUSCAVITE ARMY HAD JUST MADE ITS CAMP ON A RIDGE WHEN THE REBEL HORDES CAME CHARGING OUT OF THE WOODS.  THOUGH HARD PRESSED THE ARMY HELD ITS GROUND AND EVENTUALLY BROKE THE MORALE OF THE REBELS.  FURTHER DETAILS CAN BE FOUND IN THE REPORTS OF THE BATTLES.

The Chief Minister on hand in the Muscavite Capitol provided a brief statement this afternoon.

 “Word from the Imperial Leader of the Reindeer, Lukor Regijst is that the Rebellion has been smashed.  The people of Musca have come to the precipice of Civil War, and quite frankly, a great many of them have fallen in.”

STILL ANOTHER REBEL GENERAL ESCAPES! MUSCA HERO JOINS HIM!

The man better known by his nickname of "The Mighty Quinn," Lieutenant General QUINN FABIAN (QUINTUS FABIANUS--in Ancient Eridanian), Commander-in-Chief of the Musca Citizens Freedom Army (MCFA), escaped with an Elephant unit toward the hills following his defeat at the Battle of Rastaban. He has been joined by Brigadier General R. (Ramon) Ambo (holder of the Hero of Musca medal) who an eyewitness said, "(General Ambo) survived even though the unit he was attached to perished. He was last seen cutting a path through opposing troops to make good his escape."

As at Aquila, the second in command of a "Citizens Freedom Army" was mortally wounded. This was the well-known Cavalry Commander Jorge Aquarius Custardo, Sergeant-Major-General M.U.S.V. (Musca United Societies Volunteers).
General Custardo died at the head of his favorite unit (and of which he was Colonel-in-Chief) the Seventh Cataphracts, while the band played the Regimental Song, Larry Owen!

Again as at Aquila, The Facilitator General (whose job kept him in the rear-ehelon) easily escaped. When asked for comment, Facilitator General Vitelius Bering (well known before the civil war as an explorer) replied, “What can I say? The Musca Revolution is in dire straights"

QUEEN FRANCIS RESUMES CONTROL OF HOROLOGIUM

WITH THE AID OF FINANCE MINISTER DODDERNIK QUEEN FRANCIS HAS RESTORED ORDER TO HOROLOGIUM.   RELIEF IS BEING PROVIDED TO ALL CITIZENS WHO SUFFERRED FROM THE RECENT EARTHQUAKE.

REBELS ESTABLISH NEW GOVERNMENT IN ARGOS

THE NEKKAR NOBLES HAVE FORMED A NEW COUNCIL TO SEE TO THE AFFAIRS OF ARGOS.   INSTEAD OF RULE BY ONE MAN THE NOBLES HAVE FELT THAT ARGOS WOULD BE BETTER SERVED IF POWER WERE NO LONGER VESTED IN A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL.

SILIDON RETURNS

THE SORCEROR SILIDON HAS RETURNED TO THE MISTY ISLES.  IT HAD BEEN THOUGHT THAT THE WIZARD HAD SLAIN SILIDON IN A FEARSOME DUEL OF MAGIC, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE.   HIS BODY HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM WHERE IT HAD LAIN AND AFTER MONTHS OF EFFORT HIS APPRENTICE HAD MANAGED TO RESTORE HIM TO FULL STRENGTH.    HIS FIRST ACTION ON RETURNING TO THE MISTY ISLES WAS TO REBUILD HIS OLD FORTRESS IN THE CRATER.   HE HAS ALSO APPOINTED HIS APPRENTICE TO THE POST OF CO-ORDINATOR GENERAL FOR V.E.L.A AS A REWARD FOR HIS LOYAL SERVICE.

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT HAS BEEN RELEASED BY THE INFORMATION MINISTRY OF THE MISTY ISLES:

Recent events have proved that the Region of Vela cannot have peace because of the great economic disparity amongst a select, privileged few and the majority of our regions inhabitants. To top it off, the select, privileged few have done little or nothing to encourage true free enterprise, equality of opportunity and just laws---hence the revolts in the so-called ALLIANCE. I know full well of what I speak having belonged to an elite and having served both a Tsar and a Prince of Aquila. As a cure for our REGION'S vanity, viciousness and vulnerability I have created the V.E.L.A. GROUP---an acronym for:

Virtue
Empowerment
Liberty
Actualization

These four things must be encouraged and expected of all inhabitants of the region. To achieve these things the nations of Vela can have only three types of government: Conscientious, Compassionate Constitutional-Monarchies, Definitely Democratic Democracies and Really Representative Republics. Any nation refusing to reform will incur the displeasure of THE GROUP (AS WE WISH TO BE MORE COMMONLY KNOWN), and THE GROUP will use any means to achieve justice for the Region. NOTE: To Date Argos, Horologium and the Misty Isles have joined the V.E.L.A. GROUP.

ETTERNICH WHO WAS ORIGINALLY FROM AQUILA, HAS MANY ACADEMIC CREDITIALS AND IT HAS RECENTLY BEEN REVEALED THAT HE HAS SERVED AN APPRENTICESHIP UNDER SILIDON.  HE HAS SPENT SOME TIME TRAVELLING THROUGHOUT THE ALLIANCE AND WAS REPORTEDLY SEEN IN THE MISTY ISLES AT THE TIME SILIDON’S BODY DISSAPPEARED.   DURING HIS TRAVELS THROUGH THE ALLIANCE HE HAS BEEN SIGHTED WITH T.R. OTSKY, THE NEKKAR NOBLES, J.T.CORNPONE, AND QUINTUS FABIANUS.   MOST OF THESE SIGHTINGS HAD BEEN DISCOUNTED AS FABRICATIONS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN TO TRAVEL FROM ARGOS ALL THE WAY TO MUSCA.   WITH THE REVELATION THAT HE HAS BEEN APPRENTICED TO SILIDON IT IS NOW BELIEVED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DO SO BY THE USE OF MEANS OTHER THAN A FAST HORSE OR CHARIOT.
