The Akamar Herald Year Five VELA Group Attacks the Alliance

Ray's turn continued following his taking over Argos and The Misty Isles.   A player's turn consists of the following actions.   Collect money, draw cards and pay for any extra cards, play events as they are drawn and draw a card to replace the event card (can result in multiple events), meld cards to take control of a country (may engage in a coup attempt against another player's country),  conduct a military campaign against one neighboring country,  if successful take control of that country with any defending armies/navies/fortifications used in combat being discarded, re-arrange any cards where possible including adding additional cards from the player's hand, discard one card ending the player's turn.  A description and map of the battle mentioned in the invasion article will be included in the next post.  There were no changes to the campaign map from the last posting.

INVASION OF AQUILA THWARTED.

THE RECENT INVASION OF AQUILA BY THE VELA GROUP HAS BEEN REPULSED.  THE INVASION FORCE CONSISTED OF THE NEKKAR NOBLES FROM ARGOS AND CRAWFORD CODRAGON UNDER THE COMMAND OF MAXIMILIAN VON BUMBLEBURG.  THE DEFENDING FORCES WERE THE IMPERIAL AIR CORPS OF AQUILA AND THE SNISS MERCENARIES.

The well known, veteran, professional soldier, Captain General Maximilian Von Bumbleburg, Commander-in-Chief of the Argos Expeditionary Force (AEF), was available for comment after his defeat today in the Battle of Menkib: General Maximilian sadly stated, "I fought today's battle with the army I had not the one I wanted. Even worse, I had to fight the battle with only the Dragon Force and the Nekkar Heavy Cavalry. Thus, the battle was over before our infantry could get into action.  Nevertheless, I must commend, in particular, the Dragon Force Commander, Lieutenant General Barnabas Fife, for his gallant charge on the Aquilan right flank. I must also note the magnificent defense of our Base Camp against elements of the Aquilan Air Corps by Sergeant-Major-General Stefano Monte de Gomeri. My thanks to all of our brave warriors for their service in this just cause!"

Immediately Following this interview, General Maximillian ordered an immediate withdrawal of the AEF to the ships of the Argos Navy. (Signed) Headly Burton (AP)
